Maddox’s Journey

11/17/23: How’s Maddox Doing?

·

A lot of the time when I’m asked how Maddox is doing it’s kind of like “how’s Maddox doing?” There’s an undertone that the question is pointed towards his health. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate this so much. I love how many people care and check in. And it does matter, how’s he’s doing health wise, and it always will. I just can’t help but feel like I have to answer that question with an update on his health, but I don’t have to. So a lot of the time I just answer it with how I think he’s doing, and with all of the ways that I measure how Maddox is doing.

I measure how he’s doing in laughs, in full tummies, in long naps, in new skills, in smiles, and in moments – big and small.

I want to use this blog post today to reflect on all the moments and milestones lately that have captured my heart. I haven’t been very good at keeping Maddox’s baby book up to date, but I’ve been okay at keeping this blog up to date. I suppose this serves a similar purpose – it documents so much of this sweet boy’s life.

So here’s a few things about you lately, Maddy boy, that I don’t want to ever forget:

  • The way your eyes squint and your mouth opens wide when mama makes you laugh
  • The way you squeal in a high-pitched manner when you’re happy or excited
  • The way you have to hold or play with my hand to help you fall asleep
  • The way you have been sleeping so well (on most nights) in your big boy crib in your room
  • The way you’ve loved kicking and splashing during your tubby time
  • The way you instantly stop crying in the middle of the night the second I pick you up out of your crib
  • The way your eyes lit up the first time you tried solids. We gave you some avocado and I’ve never seen you happier. My little foodie.
  • The way you smile first thing in the morning when I open your curtains and peak into your crib and say “good morning sunshine”
  • The way you reach for my face and pull me towards you when I talk to you
  • The way you kick and wiggle and flail on your changing table while babbling up a storm
  • The way you grab your bottle like a big boy and try to feed yourself
  • The way you whine when the attention isn’t on you then immediately smile once we start talking to you
  • How small your hands and feet are
  • How delicate you are
  • How smooth your skin in
  • How precious your sweet face is
  • How you’re perfectly mine

So that’s how my Maddox is doing. He’s a happy and growing little boy who is so adored by so many. He’s just Maddy. And he’s exactly who he’s supposed to be. We just continue to be blessed enough to get to be a part of it.

Maddox is beyond lucky to have you and Adam as parents. ❤️ He is beyond cute! Is it just me or does Maddox look like Sawyer in the first photo with the black hat on? Love you all….
